This was, to me, a surprisingly delightful, well-maintained trail behind the elementary school and library, with a great viewpoint and resting spot on an estuary. There are fairly flat ledges to sit or sun on, and it looks like it could be decent swimming? The forest trails are pretty, with some views over the marsh.
This is a lovely 2.5-miles walk (if you do all the perimeter trails) that includes a secluded cove, a blue-green estuary, salt marsh, fields and about a mile along the Medomak River where there are a couple of places to take a refreshing saltwater dip. The land is protected by the Midcoast Conservancy. Directions:
This is a wonderful walk on a 65-acre sanctuary beloved by local people. The birding is amazing, the views of the Presumpscot River estuary and the city are beautiful, the trails add up to about 2.5 miles. The paths alternate between mown trails that let you roam the grasslands and slightly rougher (but still easy)
