Penobscot Shore Preserve
The first leg of this Coastal Mountains Land Trust trail descends to a 0.4-mile loop at the shore of the Penobscot River, making for a slightly strenuous return (especially in deep snow). There is no obvious way to access the shore, but you can clamber down to it from a few points along the trail.
