Visitors can hike a there-and-back trail through this state park and catch some pretty views of Moosehead Lake along the way. On a hot day, jump into the cool waters of the lake from the sandy beach! Keep your eye out for the side trails to the pond’s edge — I missed one. If you can walk this at dusk, the sunsets can be glorious.

The flat, wide trail is easy — and ride-able for kids on bikes. You can make a round trip by walking back along the park roads. You may see friendly deer.

There is a small daily fee to access the park. According to the park, trails in the winter are groomed for Nordic skiing, but I have not found that to be the case on a couple of times I’ve visited. Maybe the snow conditions have to be right?

Directions: From the center of Greenville, head north 9 miles on the Lily Bay Road, which runs parallel to Moosehead Lake (and has some stunning views!), until you get to State Park Road on the left.
