There’s about 1.3 miles of easy, wide, forested trails behind the school, providing a quiet place to walk in a beautiful forest. To pick up the trail, I think it’s easiest to park by the track and walk toward the back right corner (southeast corner). While dogs aren’t allowed on the track, they’re allowed on the trail system. (You can walk on the track or outside its fence.)

Once you reach that corner, you’ll see a sign and the trail map (which doesn’t seem to reflect the actual path layout, as far as I could tell.) The trails are wonderful and easy, allowing you to relax and enjoy your surroundings. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find an easy way to access the little pond and stream at the northern end of the trail system. Perhaps it’s off school property.

Also, the trails are groomed in the winter for the Nordic ski team!

Directions: From the intersection of ME Route 4 (Auburn Road) and ME Route 117, take ME Route 117 (Turner Center Road) east. Follow the road 1.9 miles to Lower Street (just after crossing the Nezinscot River). Turn right onto Lower Street and then left into the school complex. I drove to the end to park near the track.
