Shaker Woods Reserve

This is a nice spot for a roughly 2-mile walk to the shores of a brook and the Mousam River, but it might be boggy and wet, especially in spring and summer. The preserve is the result of a deal between the developer of the nearby housing development and the town.

From the parking area, a 0.6 trail segment brings you to an 0.7-mile loop.

Directions: From Route 4, turn onto Stone Road. The parking area and trail sign will be on your left in approximately 1/2 mile, before you reach Hay Brook Road.

Made it about 0.5 miles into the Shaker Woods Reserve trail before the trail became too boggy and wet to continue.

Ugh, that’s too bad! Wonder if the trail could use more bog boards?
