The wooden posted sign to this trail is small, old and worn-looking. The parking area is a small grassy spot off the road big enough for just a couple of cars. The trail, when I visited, was un-blazed and at least in the beginning, just a narrow track through overgrown grass and weeds. Yet, once you get to the woods, the path becomes easier to follow and walk — though there appear to be persistent muddy patches. If you take the path down to the shore (about 1 mile), you will come out on a spectacular sandy beach, which you might have all to yourself. It is a good place for a cold swim!

Directions: The trailhead is off Route 191 (Dixie Road), about 1.8 miles south of Boot Cove Road on the right, if you’re coming from the north. The sign is small, on a wooden post, just a little ways past Haycock Harbor Road and Havenhurst Road.
