There is a small pond and meadow, as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The loop around the park is about 0.8 mile, and the main path is smooth enough for some wheelchairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The land is a park due to the far-seeing nature of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Percival_P._Baxter\">Percival Baxter<\/a>, who gave it to the city in 1946. He also donated the land for Baxter State Park and <a href=\"https:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/mackworth-island-trail-falmouth\/\">Mackworth Island<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a longer walk, head over to the amazing <a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/evergreen-cemetery-and-baxter-woods-portland\/\">Evergreen Cemetery<\/a> and stroll along the paved lanes or woodland paths.<br \/><strong><br \/>Directions: <\/strong>You can park along Stevens Avenue, across Evergreen Cemetery, or you can park in the small three-car parking area at the end of the dead-end Percival Street.
