We made a big loop from Blueberry Ledges Trail to Foss and Knowlton\/Lost Pond\/Grassy Pond trails for a 13-mile loop in a relatively flat section of the park. Along the way you can check out two remote ponds \u2014 Lost Pond and Foss and Knowlton Pond \u2014 as well as the spectacular Blueberry Ledges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Coming from the south, Foss and Knowlton Trail starts out on a wide gravel path for the first 2.3 miles, with a gradual incline for some of it. The trail narrows only when you reach Foss and Knowlton Pond. At this point, the walking becomes a touch rougher. It&#8217;s flat, but it&#8217;s rocky and rooty. The moss-covered rocks on the Lost Mountain Trail make the forest floor look like a green, bumpy carpet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The park has a helpful online hiking <a href=\"https:\/\/baxterstatepark.org\/general-info\/\">resource<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Directions:<\/strong> You can park at Katahdin Stream Campground and cross Tote Road to Grassy Pond Trail. This connects with Daicey Pond Trail. In 0.2 miles you&#8217;ll come to Lost Pond Trail, which feeds into Foss and Knowlton Trail. All the trails are well signed and well blazed.
