Desert Island that lead to a dramatic seaside with blocky pinkish-orange granite cliffs. The other is <a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/wonderland-trail-acadia-national-park\/\">Wonderland Trail<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I visited in mid-June, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/thingstodo\/hike-ship-harbor-trail.htm\">Ship Harbor Trail<\/a> was crowded! All the spots in the parking lot were full, and others were parking up and down Route 102A. The approximately 1.5-mile trail is made up of two loops, forming a figure eight. The first one is slightly easier than the second, and almost wheelchair accessible with a few rough spots. However, the remarkable views are at the end of the second loop, which is rougher going, but still relatively easy. It comes out onto rugged pink cliffs rising up from the sea, before winding back through shrubby, rocky landscape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What the first loop has going for it are views along the quiet harbor, which is supposedly named after a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mdislander.com\/maine-news\/who-put-the-ship-in-ship-harbor\">shipwreck<\/a> that probably never happened there! Curious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Directions: <\/strong>The parking area is off Route 102A, three-fourths of a mile east of the intersection with Lighthouse Road, and about 1.3 miles west of Seawall Campground.
