The trail edges a large private field and brings you down a steep bank to a spot by the brook.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each spring, alewife fish <a href=\"https:\/\/static1.squarespace.com\/static\/5ab534a8697a985af70b73ca\/t\/5beede32352f53d7e89033f4\/1542381110959\/Explore+Mill+Brook+Panel.pdf\">swim up Mill Brook<\/a> to reach Highland Lake to spawn. They&#8217;re returning after a long absence, following the removal of a dam and the clean-up of the waterway. Presumpscot Land Trust has protected a lot of acreage around this important stream to help protect the fishery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mill Brook South Preserve starts next to a farm with horses and possibly other animals, so you should keep your pup on a leash here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Directions: <\/strong>The trailhead is behind the Millbrook Estates parking lot on the north side of East Bridge Street, just north of downtown Westbrook.
