I did and am barely alive to tell the tale. It is a discontinued trail \u2014 wet and overgrown. Best to stick with the there-and-back trail that takes you up and over the bog to the viewpoint of Rangeley Lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also, there is a stream crossing at the start of the walk that I found difficult (I fell into the stream). If you want to avoid it, use the road bridge to cross the stream. Park at the trailhead parking lot and walk 100 feet or so west along the road and you&#8217;ll see a little trail to your right.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This trail includes interpretative panels. The view of the lake at the end of the trail is nice, and there is a picnic table. The swimming I&#8217;d say is only so-so. In total, this Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust <a href=\"https:\/\/rlht.org\/south-bog\/\">preserve<\/a> has 1,000 acres, and from the parking lot to lake, it&#8217;s about 2.3 mostly easy miles, with one steep section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Directions: <\/strong>From Oquossoc Village, go south on Rt. 17 for 5 miles. Take left on South Shore Drive.
