Trails go through fields and woods. Dogs allowed, but they must be leashed during nesting season.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/scarborough-river-wildlife-sanctuary-scarborough\/\"><strong>Scarborough River Wildlife Sanctuary <\/strong><\/a>\u2014 This town-owned preserve includes about 1.2 miles of paths through meadows and brings you to views of the marsh.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/sewall-woods-scarborough\/\"><strong>Sewell Woods<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 A shortish walk in 35 acres of woods with wide, well-marked trails on the southern side of the preserve. On the other side of the road, you can walk to Frith Farm.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/broadturn-farm-scarborough\/\">Broadturn Farm<\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 You can explore the pretty Silver Brook and its small falls along short, well-marked trails, or head out for a longer walk across the road through forest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/libby-river-farm-scarborough\/\"><strong>Libby River Farm<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 A roughly 1.5-mile walk, with a lovely observation deck of the marsh. Your expedition can be extended by hiking the connected Camp Ketcha and Piper Shore Meadows trails.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/pleasant-hill-preserve-scarborough\/\"><strong>Pleasant Hill Preserve <\/strong><\/a>\u2014 A beautiful former farm, this 135-preserve contains the headwaters of the Spurwink River.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/eastern-trails-off-road-segments-south-portland-to-kennebunk\/\">Eastern Trail<\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 A great bike path, with lovely off-road sections between South Portland and Kennebunk.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/warren-woods-scarborough\/\"><strong>Warren Woods<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 A 1.5-mile trail system makes a couple of loops through fields and forest on this 156-acre preserve.\u00a0A side trail visits the narrow Nonesuch River.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/jennie-and-isaac-e-willey-recreation-area-scarborough\/\"><strong>Jennie and Isaac E. Willey Recreational Area<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 A 0.4-mile unmarked path through the woods brings you to a marsh overlook.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/blue-point-preserve-scarborough\/\"><strong>Blue Point Preserve<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 A 1-mile easy walk on a 14-acre preserve includes two overlooks of the marsh.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/scarborough-marsh-audubon-center-trail-scarborough\/\">Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center trail<\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 A short trail, about 0.4-mile long along Route 9, provides prime birdwatching.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/hunnewell-hill-scarborough\/\">Hunnewell Hill<\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 A forested neighborhood trail system that brings you to the banks of the narrow Nonesuch River. Unfortunately, there is no designated parking at any of the trailheads.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/memorial-park-scarborough\/\">Memorial Park<\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 You can make approximately a half-mile loop along paved paths that encircle the open fields of this small park.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/blue-heron-preserve-scarborough\/\">Blue Heron Preserve<\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 A short, easy trail \u2014 about 0.2 miles one way \u2014 in a tiny preserve (~10 acres) brings you to the Nonesuch River in a busy part of town.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/hemlock-grove-preserve-scarborough\/\">Hemlock Grove Preserve<\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 An 18-acre preserve at the edge of a neighborhood and abutting the highway, the forest contains Hemlocks both young and old.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/mainebyfoot.com\/prouts-neck-cliff-walk-with-ferry-and-scarborough-beaches-scarborough\/\">Prouts Neck<\/a> <\/strong>\u2014 <strong>CLOSED.<\/strong> An amazing spot, for its character, history, natural beauty and natural history. A must visit!
